Summary 09105: gunpey: Brief audio stutter
Description When loading the game, the game speed fluctuates between 98% and 99% or stays within 98% or 99% and does not stay within a consistent 100% despite my computer having a capable six-core CPU with an integrated GPU.

The issue leads to brief stutters in the audio that may or may not sound distracting.

It's likely that some other games, systems, and drivers (including Krull (krull; gottlieb/gottlieb.cpp) and various ddenlovr-based mahjong games with a Toshiba CPU) may have similar audio stutter issues to this game.
Steps To Reproduce Load the game and wait until the title screen appears. If you don't hear the stutter there, stick around during the attract mode. It may vary depending on the host system running MAME, but chances are that you might be able to hear the audio stutter.

Compare your configuration files (mainly mame.ini) with the one from a fresh install. I think one of them causes the speed to be reduced for you for games with a higher than 60hz refresh rate, likely a deliberate setting.

Disabling "Wait Vertical Sync" in the video options fixes this for me.

MAME's frameskipping algorithm kind of sucks, but you'll need to enable autoframeskip if you want to enable waitvsync for games that have a higher refresh rate than your screen.
