Summary | 09089: gondou: Gondomania 2P Crashes | ||||
Description |
Hello, I have been attempting to get a full playthrough of Gondomania in and have had the game fully crash on me every single time across about a dozen attempts. The crashing seems to happen most often when there is a lot of sprite action occurring on the screen. Normally when the red swirl weapon is used, or the bike with the wave spray attack. |

Steps To Reproduce |
Load into gondou rom Play game for a while, get the red swirly weapon if possible Eventually along the way the game will crash, usually when the gondola ship enemies come onto screen or get destroyed. |

I played for a long while, and it never gave that error. Just after killing the blue bird boss, the game crashed with the picture above. Music still played slowly. The error log just showed heaps of unmapped reads and writes, and was 714MB in size. Appears that it ran into the weeds. |

Downloaded .273, fresh installed it, loaded up gondou for first run, played through quite a bit longer than normal, but then crashed. Recorded entire run available here: crash is at the end and timestamped in video Also it occurs when one of the gondola (enemy carrier ships) gets destroyed, which we have noticed precedes a crash frequently (though not all the time) |

I've confirmed that there is a problem, soon after the blue bird boss. The memory_bank message seems to be optional, as I never received it. |

I only got the memory bank item one crash out of the dozen or so. I included it because it was the most detailed error I got. Most of the time things just froze with a weird sprite pattern or repeating background corruption. May not be relevant. |

It does not seem to have. Got the nightly build from https://ashura.mameworld.info/nightlybuilds/builds.html for January 21st Tried to play. Crashed on the 3rd boss. We had the hovercycle that sprays waves in all directions (which we have previously identified as something that seemed to increase crash likelihood) Full video of the run here: |

can confirm, tested with 2 players, this happen if the main weapon is the fireball like weapon and any weapon with more that 3 shots, many enemies in screen, cause first a slowdown and next crash, and has 3 possible problems: - Crash with a purple screen with high scores texts (screenshot) - Reset to the main screen title - Crash and send to the menu (other screenshot) |

if it only happens with this set I'd be suspicious that it's just a real game bug under the high load situation you describe, could be overflowing some internal structure |
