Summary | 08671: f1lap and clones: Running these games in mame triggers a Windows Security Alert
Description | This one is really tricky. If I run these games for the first time from a new directory I've never run mame from before, I get a security alert from Windows Defender Firewall. When I hit cancel on the popup and run the game again, I never see another alert unless I rename the directory mame is in or move it to another directory.
Steps To Reproduce |
1. Make a new directory somewhere on your drive and put mame in it. 2. Run f1lap (better in a window), and an alert pops up just before the game starts going into demo mode. Cancel the popup. 3. Exit mame and run the game again, should be no security popup now. 4. Exit mame and rename the directory to something else. 5. Run the game again and should be the same popup again like step 2. |

Additional Information |
This was at the end of a verbose output:S32COMM: board enabled S32COMM: listen on socket.0.0.0.0:15112 S32COMM: connect to socket.127.0.0.1:15112 S32COMM: link established - id 01 of 01 I also threw this at 0.172 and it causes an alert too. I have never seen this happen with any other game in mame ever, and I think I have some other racing games that use some kind of setup like this. I don't know if this is specific just to this game, or if mame is doing something it shouldn't be in this case? Bear in mind I don't have anything fancy installed on this system, this is about as vanilla as Windows 10 can get, and I've never touched the firewall settings so they should be whatever Microsoft set them to. The attached images show the popups and show the different named directory. I just changed "255c" to "255cz". |

It's the network emulation, not a bug. https://www.howtogeek.com/435610/why-does-windows-defender-firewall-block-some-app-features/ |
