Summary | 08509: tmntmwb: Incorrect attack button inputs | ||||
Description |
This might be a BTANB, but I'm not sure. In the original console version of the game, the attack buttons are mapped to the face buttons (X / Y / A / B), but in this game, they're assigned to different buttons. TMNTMWB - Y: Hard Kick / X: Hard Punch / B: Light Kick / L: Light Punch TMNTMW (SNES): Y: Light Punch / X: Hard Punch / B: Light Kick / A: Hard Kick Kale mentioned that the games on this driver do weird things, since they're bootlegs, so this -might- be correct for all I know. I'm not even sure if the game uses all six button inputs, or if they're just ignored in the control panel. If this is correct, would adding custom inputs to only recognize the relevant buttons (and disable the unused R / A buttons) be a good idea? |

Given that these are arcade bootlegs and made to JAMMA specs, this tells me that 3 action buttons is the typical max allowed per player (4 using extra pins) - not counting "coin" and "start" (SNES Select/Start equivs). I'm not convinced that these are mapped incorrectly, per se, but moved to fit within a 4 input scheme in JAMMA adopted from SNES common class. Someone with driver knowledge might be able to give a better answer. |

I originally asked for info about the board because I figured the manual (or photos of the board) would say how many input buttons are actually used and if they're doing something non-standard. The driver inherits the inputs and doesn't change anything, but the board might be doing something funky that requires further configuration. Or maybe, since this isn't set up to use all six buttons, they just moved the input to someplace where it would be easy for an operator to hook up the button to, like you said. |

They definitely did an awful hackjob on the Spiderman inputs to fit it into 3 buttons, so wouldn't surprise me if they messed them up here too. |
