Summary | 08400: blazstar: Corrupted graphics / sprite or tile scrolling glitch - Stage 1 | ||||
Description |
Start of stage 1 of Blazing Star. Graphics on the far left of the screen become corrupted / graphics scrolling error at the left edge of the screen. I noticed that this bug happens as far back as MAME 0.235, but do not have older versions of MAME installed to test. |
||||
Steps To Reproduce |
How to reproduce: 1. Start the game normally and select your ship. 2. As stage 1 begins, you pass a large white cloud. As this cloud scrolls off the screen to the left, the graphics become corrupted around it. |
||||
Additional Information |
I have attached screenshots below to display the bug. Please pay attention to the far left of the screen as the large white cloud passes. I found evidence that the bug does not happen in the real NeoGeo arcade game: VIDEO EVIDENCE 1: SKIP TO TIME 2:55 VIDEO EVIDENCE 2: SKIP TO TIME 28:00 |

This looks a lot like known NeoGeo behavior where the left/right borders often have leftover graphics from scrolling and such. Other examples: 01656 02407 06400 If you go to Video Options -> Screen #0 and choose the Screen 0 Cropped (304x244) - you'll notice it doesn't show. Some games do use the full 320 whereas some don't (this game included). I'm inclined to believe in both instances of video above the monitor does not show the areas the emulation does and the emulation is correct. |

This is a topic that has been repeated many times over the years and NOT A BUG. In the real arcade, the problematic area is cropped by the CRT monitor, if you want to eliminate it, please select 304 x 224 resolution in the video option. |
