Summary 07080: otenamhf: Game doesn't start after loading PCMCIA Card
Description "Otenami Haiken Final" doesn't start after loading PCMCIA Card since MAME 0.180.
In MAME 0.180 the Taito GNET BIOS (coh3002t.zip) became a new V2 BIOS: f35-01_m27c800.bin
The old V2 BIOS (flashv2.u30), which was added to MAME 0.132u5 like the "Otenami Haiken Final" game, was removed.

It only works with the old one (see snapshot MAME 0.179 otenamhf-PCMCIA-loading.png)

I was able to use 0.201 and what MAME requires for roms/chds and install the BIOS and the GAME and start the game without issue.

The first start requires the BIOS to flash, which will take as while even on a faster machine. When done, the screen still show Japanese text basically instructing you flip the Bios Flash DIP to OFF, then hard reset the machine (SHIFT+F3). After doing that, you get the screen shown above where the actual game is flashed. Once completed,. the game will boot and subsequent MAME startups will not need to go through any of the BIOS/GAME flashing process.

David Haywood wrote the game requires the newer revision BIOS:
$info=otenamhf
- 15th July 2009: David Haywood - Joerg Hartenberger added support for the final G-Net game "Otenami Haiken Final".
Like "Otenami Haiken" it's a collection of mini-games, although the ones here seem less interesting.
It includes previous release 'Zoooo' renamed as 'ZooKeeper' which borders on blasphemous if you're
expecting / hoping it to be a remake of the Taito classic. This was sold on a Compact Flash card rather
than the usual Gnet cards, and requires the newer revision BIOS. Joerg added support for these.
There are emulation problems in MAME, but the games are playable if you're lucky.

The BIOS was added like the game in MAME 0.132u5:
$info=coh3002t
- 0.132u5: Joerg Hartenberger added BIOS rom flashv2.u30 (G-NET Bios v2).

So i conclude the BIOS was on the "Otenami Haiken Final" board and it would be nice
if it were re-added to coh3002t.zip again for completeness!

smf made the choice to remove it, and force people to go through the flash procedure that Tafoid outlines, this is a design choice.

Supporting the bios flasher is more than a design choice, it means that people can easily find the v2 bios flasher upgrade rom to use on real hardware.

Expecting people to desolder a surface mount chip, flash it in a programmer and then solder it back on is insane when you can just burn a DIP eprom.
