Summary | 06483: rm380z34d, rm380z34e: COS 3.4 systems boot to debugger rather than COS monitor | ||||
Description |
THE PROBLEM: Currently "rm380z34d" and "rm380z34e" drivers go into software front panel right after starting the emu and after pressing the soft reset (F3) key ! THE REFERENCE: The 380Z System Manual ( http://vt100.net/rm/docs/380zsys.pdf ) on page 2-1.4 and 2-1.5 says after turning the computer ON: (quote) "The screen should be blank except for the bottom left hand corner which should read: COS (Version number) -> COS should be followed by a number which is the Cassette Operating System version number. You are now in Monitor (i.e. the Cassette Operating System). The arrow is the monitor prompt and indicates that the monitor is expecting a command." And also after pressing the reset button on the 380Z it says: "The screen should go blank with the Monitor prompt at the bottom left of the screen." TEMPORARY SOLUTION: After starting of "rm380z34d" and "rm380z34e" drivers first type the letter S and then type: First> 0000 (enter) Second> FFFF (enter) To> (just type enter) The computer will freeze so should it reset with the F3 key. You will got now the correct Monitor prompt that will behave as described in the manual. (Ps. I also noticed that something is wrong with the capital letter O, its missing on the screen, and there is bracket instead of arrow ?) Note that the hard reset SHIFT+F3 will turn the problem back again. |
