According to the notes below from Tafoid, a similar bug in another game (Tae Kwon Do) was fixed in MAME version 0.175, which then broke Rushing Beat in this exact same version. Rushing Beat was working fine until version 0.175 so this could be the cause of this regression: Specifically, the date of the regression seems to be August 22, 2012 - a lot of snes dev happened on that day including (not limited to) rewriting the CPU cycle stealing routine.
