Summary | 06119: fantzone, fantzone1, fantzonep: Fantasy Zone region releases | ||||
Description |
In 2008, a Fantasy Zone album was released: http://vgmdb.net/album/9421 Here it is shown that a few songs were changed between the original Japanese and later world releases. Comparing the given tracks to these three versions of the game shows that the two unprotected boards are the world releases and the protected board is the Japanese release. It is noted that this Japanese release is based on the prototype. Perhaps this applies to other Sega games, at least to a certain extent... |

Descriptions were changed 10 yrs ago. - 0.92: Changed description to 'Fantasy Zone (set 2, unprotected)' and clone '(Old Ver., unprotected)' to '(set 1, unprotected)'. Renamed (fantzono) to (fantzon1). - 0.89u1: Changed Z80 CPU1 clock speed to 4MHz. - 0.88u7: Changed description to 'Fantasy Zone (Japan New Ver., unprotected)' and clone '(Old Ver.)' to '(Old Ver., unprotected)'. Changed Z80 CPU2 clock speed to 5MHz palettesize to 6144 colors. Those region info was originally mentioned in the liner notes of Sega Game Music Vol.2 released in 1987. But actually the new version (US ver) was also used later in Japan. |

The X68000 version of Fantasy Zone (released in 1989) also gives the regional music difference as an option ("Music JPN" or "Music USA"). For some reason, that option also changes the arranged version of "Hot Snow". No idea why that is. |

Not sure what we're doing with this, but it's not "New" anymore. Acknowledging. |
