Summary MESS-specific 06105: x1 [supermar]: Cassette fast-forward is too fast
Description Loading Mario Bros. Special will attempt to fast-forward the tape. The game will reach the end of the tape and then fail to load.
Steps To Reproduce Launch MAME with supermar in the casette slot. During the load, the system will fast-forward. It will reach the end of the tape and then fail to load.

Nope, the disk version smbsp do.

What this specific tape needs is "APSS fast-forward" support, which is basically "scan forward the tape input until you find silence for 4 seconds", as an analog mechanism to find a track.
Kludging it to around 4:00 (which is where silent can be first heard for 4 seconds) makes the tape version to boot although a tad too slow, could be due of the kludge or not.

Anyway, I guess this one needs mods to cassette device or a subclass of it, because APSS is a Sharp standard. And deassigning since I'm not that confident with the silent part & with the TAP format itself.
