Will not discount the possibility that this set is an English language Japan region set - but it is unlikely. There may be elements not emulated due to incomplete graphics emulation that should be showing the japanese text bits. |

Checking mameinfo: " - 0.202: Marked Cyber Sled (Japan) as World instead, there's nothing about this set other than the CY1 code to indicate that it's a Japanese set, and I don't think the Namco codes represent region, just release order [David Haywood]. Removed c67.bin, sys2c65c.bin and sys2mcpu.bin rom. Replaced TMS32025 CPU5/6 with 5x Namco C67 (TMS320C25). Changed description to 'Cyber Sled (CY2, World)' and clone (Japan)' to 'Cyber Sled (CY1, World?)'. Renamed (cybsledj) to (cybsleda). " BTANB? |

Yeah, I'm fairly sure this set wouldn't run as Japanese on hardware either, somebody needs to check, but as I said, I think the namco number (which people are assuming to be region) is just order of release, so if a World / Asia release was first, it could in theory be 'CY1' even if Japanese usually uses the '1' code due to being released first. Of course it could be some other weird emulation bug causing it to run as Non-Japanese, so can't be too sure. |

It looks like region number+version to me, see namcos12.cpp for a good list where we have multiple version/region sets, for example Tekken 3 or Soul Calibur. It's possible Namco didn't 'obey' their own policy on some games. |
