Summary | 05528: pleiads: player shot sound missing: .wav sample request (provided) | ||||
Description |
hi, although it is already reported on mametesters that pleiads has sound issues, would it please be possible to add in the sound of the player laser shot sound via a .wav sample file (which i have provided). note that there are several other games currently in mame which (although they have most of their sound working) additionally use a single .wav sample file where necessary. examples are gaplus (uses a single explosion .wav file in the samples folder) and rally x (uses a single boom/crash .wav file in the samples folder). i have attached a recording (.wav sample file) from the original pleiads arcade pcb of the player laser shot sound, which i believe should not need any alterations and can be used as is (eg. the volume of the .wav file i believe is set at a good level in relation to the volume of the other sounds which you currently hear in the mame version). please note there are several youtube videos available of the arcade pcb version, where you can hear for yourself that the .wav file i have provided is a genuine pleiads pcb recording and not an imitation/something else. below: youtube example of the player shot sound as found on the pleiads pcb: |

I temporarily hooked up the shot sound sample in the driver, and the volume is good. It is activated by the i8085's SOD line. Unfortunately as the driver is a mixture of i8085 and Z80 cpus (using cpu_device throughout), the source will need quite a bit of unscrambling to get it to compile. |

adiotional note: the sound is very similar to the clone "Space demon" (space firebird clone), maybe if the emulation of one of these two games can has a complete emulation |

Yeah, the melody IC seems to play the same tune, though it's higher pitched in Space Demon. |
