Summary | 00053: slither: [possible] NVRAM and service mode problem. | ||||
Description |
I create a fresh NVRAM (start and use Player 2 Start to save) - then use F2 to enter test mode. Looking at the rom loaded into 2nd CPU (CPU#1 in debug), you can see the text for the first screen in service mode as well as a "sound test" text following (&hfa16 onward). "USE FIRE UP FOR NEXT MENU" is listed, but doesn't function. EDIT: According to the manual , this brings you to the "Location Programming" menu, which is what you see initially with an unwritten NVRAM (mentioned above). None of the inputs that are listed on that page respond except for F2, which brings you to Location Programming. With all the extra text in the roms, there *may* be a special method to get to sound tests and adjusting other game values. |

http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/FAQ:Games#Slither That will get you started. The popup message is visible in many games using MC6845 but is harmless. Thought that was made a debug popup.. if not, it probably should be. |
