Summary | 04211: dotrikun2: [possible] Color changes look different on the pcb.
Description | The board acts a little funny on my supergun but the color swaps seen when you insert coins are different from the ones in MAME. I've dumped the rom on my board and it matches the one from dotrikun2 despite being labeled epr-13141. You can see a video of it running in 04210. It never swaps the background. Background is always black. In MAME the background color sometimes changes.

My guess is that bits 3,4 and 5 controls a second palette bit entry, some colors doesn't look to be 1bpp to me ... EDIT: actually I believe that's some sort of gradient effect? Palette is always solid normally ... |

Running a trojan on this didn't gave any reasonable result (it gets too many off-syncs for extracting a proper behaviour). I believe that somebody with normal non-Supergun equipment should try to check the behaviour there. |

Let's close this. Homebrew development on this board here: http://www.chrismcovell.com/dottorikun.html schematics are available, no evidence of more than 3bpp colors. I highly suspect it's video timing quirks on Smitty's equipment. |

yeah, could be the same way that colours get 'sucked' out of the screen on CPS1 games and some Semicom games on some brands of monitor. |
