Summary 03915: All sets using -autosave: "auto.sta" can mistakenly be erased
Description If you have an autosaved state for a game, it can be erased mistakenly quite easiiy.
Steps To Reproduce mame -autosave mrdo
Allow the game to progress to a point not normally shown when booted fresh. Exit MAME.
mame -autosave mrdo
Make sure the autosave is correctly saved the first time. Exit MAME
mame -autosave mrdo
This time, when you get your game information screen, instead of hitting any normal key to get past it, hit ESC to exit MAME.
mame -autosave mrdo
If you try to reload again like above, you'll notice the state is essentially empty and all data is lost and it starts as if you had no saved state.

Do I remove the mrdo.cfg to show the info screen on the second boot?

I confirmed that the auto save was reset, if I exit MAME immediately with the ESC key on the info screen.

No. the .CFG is used for the "OK" screen (disclaimer) not the game information screen (game name + devices/speeds).
