 Can you give an example of which game and which settings you are having trouble with?

mame sfiiin

I tested sfiiin (no-cd), started Service Mode (f2), went to configuration/game and set difficulty to 8. I exited MAME and restarted the game again from command line. Went back to the service mode and back to the menu to check difficulty and it was still listed as 8. It seems like it works from here.

 after reading your note I tested the games again and check de nvram folder

For some reason some (nvram games) was set to ready only atribute.

Went back to the service mode I setup all I needed and exit mame again

Back to mame and bing, works.
