Summary | 03613: Controller input not functional in 64bit version. | ||||
Description |
For every version of a 64bit version of MAME I've tried for months, not a single one allows joystick input. I've tried everything, so there must be something wrong with the MAME type - keyboard and mouse work fine just not gamepad. Tried the basic Mame, the UI, the FX, the XT version. Tried every version that also come out in the past few months. The 32 bit versions continue to work flawlessly with joysticks. I have 2 360 controllers and have tried the DirectInput driver and the Xinput driver. Everything is properly configured....or else use the 32bit exe would show the same thing. Clean install as aswell. All my other tens of emus and PC games work fine, just not Mame64. I didn't find any information on this when searching. Can someone confirm or offer suggestions or of course fix this? |
||||
Steps To Reproduce |
1) Launch any game in Mame64 with a gamepad 2) Attempt to use the pad in gameplay (or bring up the Mame controller config and attempt to use input there). Results: No input is recognized. |

I do not have an xbox360 controller or 64-bit operating system to verify your claims. Hopefully some other testers will step up to assist you, as there are others who I know use such combination without issue with MAME. |

No problem with Win7 x64 and XBox360 wired controller and MameUI64. [note, not a two joystick setup as the OP has] |

Hmmm...I tried with just one controller plugged in and same thing. Can anyone tell me why these 2 exes (32bit & 64bit) which are side by side in the same folder yeild different results when it comes to controller input? Darn wierd it is! |

All fixed with the SDL changes in 136.1. |

so does it only work with SDL Mame, or standard MAME? The resolution here is confusing, as the original report indicates that the problem exists with all versions of MAME, but the final comment indicates that an SDL related change has fixed it? |

I wish I knew. The original poster said it was resolved and I had no way to verify the claims. |
