Description |
on original PCB (original Taito, K11E0647A Football Champ, no bootleg or clone; serial 116101472) without any special settings game could be continued at the exact same position as it ended before (positions of the players, score,etc.) just like simply time was added. Adding a credit after time is out DOES NOT result in a rematch - current game could be continued! i do not think that this is a different ROM set or different DIP-Switches. It's the original PCB from Taito. I also tried all DIP-Switches in MAME in current version. |

Steps To Reproduce | Play a game until it it over and the referee counts from 10 to 0 and add a credit within this counting down. Game is reset to 0:0, same with players - it's handled like a rematch but only time should be added. | ||||
Additional Information | As I do not know how to add a message to my last posting as Fujix closed the case I wrote this new one to clear some things up. Maybe it's not a bug but continue is not handled in the right way I think. | ||||

The only way we can accept this is if you produce some video of the event. If you are able to list the PCB serial/model number - you should be able to create a video from it (even if it's a cellphone/videocam copy). It's the type of "Original Reference" that is more desired here - actual captures from the PCB. It is not that we here do not believe something is original behavior, it's just that we need a documentation for the developers so if it is indeed wrong, they know exactly how it works. Also, it would be helpful if you do own the board to make sure it's not a game which is not in MAME currently. Haze has a pretty good bearing to assert that such drastic behavior differences can either be DIP or actual version related. If within your means, please get the board's rom chips dumped. |

Unfortunately I do not have the means to dump any ROMs but I can assure you that this is not a DIP related thing. I'm almost certain that the version available for MAME is the exact same I have on my original board - only the continue is handled differently. To switch game continue on does not do the trick. |

I do not know when the above mentioned behavior occurs. I always played in two player mode - I never tried single player until now. And in two player mode I can ALWAYS continue playing after time is out and I add a credit - just like time was added. I plan to add the video within the next few days... |

It's a dipswitch setting, as said the first time. If you change the first dipswitch 'Game Over Type' then the behavior will be that of the video. I don't know where the description of 'Game Over Type' comes from tho, maybe official documentation. |

I'll check the DIP switch setting tomorrow. I never changed any DIP switch settings in MAME but suddenly it worked like described. I played some games that way with a friend of mine. After we left MAME and tried to play like before it did not work anymore. So I think there must be something wrong... |

I managed to look at the DIP switches some minutes ago. My findings: DSA: only 4 is on (=attract sound off); all other off DSB: only 8 is on (=type of game title: Euro off); all other off So the thing with the game over type switch is also a no-go. Setting is on my board "both teams' game are over" - but I was only once able to continue, most time I could not continue. So I think there is something wrong with DIP switch emulation. |

It's inconceivable that there is a problem with the dipswitch emulation, it's a bit, it returns 1 or 0. The specified dipswitch controls that behavior, if it doesn't on your PCB then your PCB is faulty. |

OK, I tried the setting "Both teams' game are over". Continue is working. Can somebody check this too? Nevertheless it's interesting that I did not change that setting when I was playing the game with my friend and the setting was "lost teams' game is over" and continue was working, too. After a restart it wasn't working anymore (also with same setting). This type of behavior gives me a headache... If someone could verify this and it's working like assumed let's rest the case. |

I also tried it and it's working like a charm when it's set to "Both teams' game are over". The only thing that could be changed is that mame uses "lost teams' game is over" as factory setting. It should be "Both teams' game are over". I tried a few times "lost teams' game is over" and I always got a kick off. |

Correct. It's just a DIP setting as originally deduced by Haze. There should be no reason to keep this open any longer. The DIP in question applies ONLY to 2 human controlled player games. "both teams games are over" The wording makes sense, both players must coin to continue the game (regardless of score). "lost teams game is over" This allows the player winning at the time to continue playing without another coin. Note, though, if both players are tied after the initial 2 minutes, you both are allowed to continue (hit player 1+2 starts) until someone scores. There is probably that reason that the game is set up as "both teams" by default - you'd lose a lot of money, potentially, if you allowed essentially free play until someone scored. In either case, the non-face off restart is only available to 2 player games. One player vs. CPU contests always resets at center. |
