Summary | 03039: tempest and clones: Only Blue stars are shown when warping. | ||||
Description |
When you finish a level and warp to the next one, in the past, you got multicolored stars. Currently, the stars only seem to show up as BLUE (even hard to see without some gamma/brightness adjustment). |

reesal, As stated in your other bug, you need to improve your reports. We need to know not only what is wrong, but HOW it is wrong and what it's supposed to be like. Words are fine to help explain but pictures and video from the actual game or PCB's and sometimes prior mame versions better illustrate the bug in question. In short, bugs that reference graphic problems should accompanied by reference material as a source. I've updated the report with some snaps for comparison to illustrate the differences. 0000.png (from 0.108) and 0001.png (from 0.130) |

No - I haven't tested for a regression yet. 0.108 was an arbitrary one I saw with the old behavior. As soon as I find something, I'll post. Just got back from work.. :) EDIT: The regression is between somewhere between 0.108u1 and 0.109 (I only have that version to test, showing blue). There was that big update in 0.108u5 where the Vector Generation was rewritten.. it's likely that version. If anyone has any of the 0.108u-cycle releases they can test, please report. |

Sorry. Anyways, some update: I thought it might be video card related but no. What is seems instead, and in general, is that the stars are only blue up to and through the beginning of the warp from level five to six, where when the 'tube' is cleared and you are approaching the next one, the colored stars appear. One other thing is that the stars are a mix of colors, but none are sparkly/there are no sparkly stars, as is the case before the vector re-write. |

After feedback from the main developer of avgdvg.c and some investigation: there simply is no sparkle bit. MAME pre-108u5 was wrong. It's intentional, stars will sparkle after finishing later levels. |
