I don't think this is a bug. Games I've tested in that driver have a distinct stereo separation to music and sounds. Unless you have some source material from an Arcadia PCB or another recording (not from a prior MAME) there isn't much I can do to confirm this report. |

I'm with Tafoid on this one. The Amiga had four sound channels, each pair hard-panned to left and right side, respectively. That means that for a sound to come from both speakers at the same time you'd have to use up two channels which would be a complete waste of resources. Usually, games would have one channel reserved for sound effects and the other three would play music. Sometimes sound effects would share a channel with an instrument sound which would then momentarily drop out to make room for the sound effect. So it makes perfect sense that the sound effects in Xenon only play from one side. Actually the sound when your shield is about to run out plays from the opposite side than the rest of the sound effects. |
