Summary | 02605: funnymou, suprmous: Wrong colors in Funny Mouse and clone. | ||||
Description |
The colors seems wrong in Funny Mouse and it's clone Super Mouse. Here's a screenshot from MAME 0.128u1 and another from a previous version of MAME, don't remember which though. First screenshot is from previous version of MAME (correct) Second screenshot is from version 0.128u1 (brown water) If this can help, my old screenshot dates back to July 20, 2004, and I keep MAME always up to date (updates aswell). So I had the latest version at that time when I took it. (Update) Well, I checked and it seems that the correct screenshot was taken with MAME 0.84 which was released July 2nd, 2004. |

Regression points to 0.118u5 when color proms for Super Mouse were added to both games. Usually adding the proms ensures a correct color output so it's confusing to see colors 'worsening' after attaching the proms. |

the (hack?) code that shifts the palette decode 8 colours and 'allocates primary colors for the background and foreground' breaks it. I'm not even sure what these background / foreground colours are meant to be... or where they're used |

improved again for 0133u4, eg. judging from attached photos: - mouse inner ears should be lighter - grass and trees should be darker than roof - tree branch should be darker Though for 100% accuracy, we'll still need schematics or study the pcb |

They must be in that epoxy block, wich would mean the colour proms are probably dumped from a bootleg. |

The colors in Super Mouse are wrong again since hap changes it in MAME 0.133u4. I've added screens taken from actual Super Mouse arcade game (http://www.arcadecollecting.com/shots.html). Before MAME 0.133u4 the mouse face colors were correct, but after the changes not. Reopen this bug report please! |

Tried playing with the brightness/gamma/contrast sliders? IMO it looks much better post-0133u4 than pre, check the 0.133 pic I attached. One odd thing though, titlebar background is white in MAME, grey on pcb (while house and text is still white) nice site btw :P |
